I love our patients and the dental field, I chose dental over nursing when I started college. It combines my care of people and love of business. Doc loves to call me his "girl Friday". If something needs done, he can count on me. I oversee practice operations, HIPAA compliance, marketing, referrals, patient and staff liaison, scheduling, treatment and benefit coordination, and payroll. I enjoy being able to help and get to know our patients.
I graduated in 1988 from South Puget Sound with my ATA in Dental Assisting. I am a certified dental assistant and have kept my registration every year. I started work in a pediatric dental office in 1988 and left there to work for Dr. McKay as an assistant until 1994 when I moved to the front office, and since 1996 when Dr. Kern bought the practice from him!
I have been with Dr. Kern since his first day and love his dedication and perfection. He has a knack of conversation added to his way of singing along to songs! If he was not a dentist, he would have been on Broadway!
I have been married to Chris for 22 years and have two wonderful boys Jakob and Michael. I volunteer with everything my boys are involved with! We are a wrestling family, add in a dash of running, powerlifting, soccer, and 4H! My boys have kept me busy. We also have two corgis who are the best dogs ever! Three cats, six chickens, and a huge pond of koi round out our family. When I have spare time, I enjoy gardening and working with my pond, and am active with our HOA board, school, soccer park, and wrestling boosters.
I am one of the first smiling faces you will hear or see! I assist in all facets of patient communications; scheduling, treatment planning/coordinating, referrals, all around patient care. I specialize in insurance, helping patients understand and utilize their benefits, claim submissions, pre-determinations, and insurance payment posting as well as numerous behind the scene tasks.
I I joined Kern Family Dental in 1998 and value the teamwork and family feel of a smaller dental practice. The longevity in our office says it all! While Dr. Kern has THE best work ethic, he is not above giving his patients added comfort with song and dance!
My husband Shawn and I have been married 19 years and have two incredible sons, and BOY do they keep us busy! We attend year round sports—football, basketball, baseball, and track—not to mention the numerous academic events. We have three dogs that make busy more like crazy. My family loves traveling, fun in the sun; boating, skiing, camping, and hiking. I enjoy photography, reading, and running with friends.
The best part of being a dental hygienist is working with people. I get to catch up with patients all day long and learning about what they are doing. We talk about travel, hobbies, and family—it’s great!
I started my career in the dental field as a lab tech. After two years, I realized I wanted to work with people. I continued in the dental field for seven years as a dental assistant before going back to school and getting my license for dental hygiene. I have been a dental hygienist for the last 20 years!
My husband and I have two teenage children, a daughter who will start college next year and a son who just started high school. They participate in many school and club sports. Our family wouldn’t be complete without our four-year-old greyhound and our 11-year-old cat. As a family, we like to travel together, hiking and sightseeing. When I have free time, I like to quilt, read, do yoga, and spend time with my family.
Registered Dental Hygienist
I enjoy building relationships with patients, while improving their oral health. I do this through preventive dental care, education on oral hygiene, assessment of oral health conditions, and by taking X-rays.
I graduated with my dental hygiene degree from the College of Southern Nevada. I have practiced dental hygiene continuously for the past 24 years, taking many continuing education classes throughout these years. It was my pleasure to join Kern Family Dental in 2017, becoming part of a compassionate, caring, honest, and committed team.
I have a wonderful husband, who is a great father to our three boys. We have a dog, a cat, and several chickens. I keep busy with our young boys involved in school, Scouts, and sports. I spend too many hours in the garden, but we are all thankful for it when it finally makes it to the shelf!
I am a CDA/registered dental assistant and can be found working alongside Dr. Kern with patient care. I began my career more than 35 years ago and have spent the past 20 years with Kern Family Dental. We are like family in this office. We care about each other and work well together. We are all professional and give patients the best possible treatment. It’s very rewarding to know that we’re making a difference in our patients’ lives.
I am very proud of my two grown daughters and one son in law). I’ve been blessed with twin grandsons who are 11 and their sister who is four. My kids are my world; they are the best! I also have a Siberian husky named Aurora and a long hair Siamese named Princess. My hobbies include my classic car, truck, trailer, and boat. When I have free time, I love to take my convertible out for a relaxing drive.
